- FNot one entry on their reports that could be matched several bank certified copies of ex wife's account that I eventually obtained on my own. They made numerous excuses. They even tried to make it about my ethnic background and too stupid to understand. Zero accuracy!!!! Is this acceptable? What a scam.
- AI was called right away after contacting them through Angie's List. Then Rob did a background check for me right away and was so helpful in understanding the report and what my next steps should be using his investigative knowledge. He spent quite a bit of time with me and could not have been more helpful. He was sincerely trying to help me with my issue and how to navigate the situation in the best way possible. It really made a difference in my life.
- AEverything went perfectly. Harry and his dogs (as well as his assistant who's name I can't recall) were amazing. They were available when we called and drove over (about an hour drive from their office to our home in Portland) immediately. As soon as they arrived he had his two search dogs go through the home to make sure our cat wasn't just hiding somewhere. At that point we provided our cat's bed for a scent and Harry followed his dogs and the scent out the door and down the street. The dogs took us to the neighbors' backyard and, after we got permission to go back there, the two dogs took one step in and sat down (indicating that they found the cat). We looked down into the window well next to the dogs and found our cat sitting in the corner, cold and wet from the rain. After spending all night looking for her in the neighborhood and spending >$100 on laminated signs (which I posted everywhere), it took Harry and his team of dogs less than 15 minutes to find her! I am fairly certain that we would not have found her without them. They were very professional, efficient, and helpful in every way. Well worth the money.

I called Kevin on Monday and he called me back Tuesday morning. I explained the situation to him and he was very understanding and sympathetic, but in addition he explained the situation from an objective and professional viewpoint. He was informative and helped me work through the issues we were facing. While I did not utilize his services, I definitely would reach to him again if the situation warranted his expertise.
I appreciated his time and demeanor.
- FIt was not only a waste of time and money, it led us in a phony direction risking the life of our pet. She is a small dog and it is still frightening to me to think of her on her own in the city and on busy city streets for 11 days. When she was eventually found, she was extremely fragile and so frightened she had to be trapped.
The outcome was positive in that we were able to get her back safely, but absolutely not with any assistance from K-9 Search. I understand that this type of service is risky and there are no guarantees that he would be successful. But my complaint is that I do not believe he ever was following her scent and that his story of traveling with the homeless was story concocted to appease us and to justify the expense. And he was so adamant that he was corrrect, it closed all other possibilities in our minds.
She could easily have perished in the several days of the search wasted by K-9 Rescue sending us off in the wrong direction and discouraging our continued search in the area of her last sighting. Had it not been for his absolute insistence that his search was correct and all other search possibilities were wrong, then we might have expanded in both directions. But we believed him and even in the end when we did abandon his homeless theory, it was an extremely difficult thing to do for fear that we were making a mistake and she would be lost to us forever.
Losing a pet is so emotional and we were all grasping at anything we could to locate her. Taking advantage of people when they are so vulnerable is shameful. - FHarry Oakes led us astray in our search for our beloved dog, Millet. I recommend NOT hiring his services. Three days after my sweet dog went missing—Friday, May 4th--I hired Harry Oakes to help with a Search and Rescue on Monday, May 7th. I was beside myself with worry about my dog and was willing to try anything. I believe Mr. Oakes preyed on my vulnerability. He led me down a trail near my house with his two search and rescue dogs following my dog's scent. He claimed their ears were alert--meaning that she was alive and not in bad health. They followed her scent to railroad tracks and Harry told us, from his experience as a police officer in Portland (which is where this search took place), my dog was probably being led by a homeless person--and that the tracks led downtown. We spent so much time searching downtown, handing flyers to homeless people, showing up at dinner times at missions. I found out where all the camp outs were. So much $, time and hope. It took us two more weeks of searching to find evidence that Millet had been hit by a train THE MORNING AFTER SHE WENT MISSING and euthanized at a local vet's office. Harry Oakes' report indicated that Millet had traveled West on the Columbia Blvd. pedestrian trial and was walking with a homeless person In fact, she had headed East along the railroad tracks and was deceased at the time of his search. HARRY OAKES IS A FRAUD.
- DHired <8/18/06. Heard nothing. I emailed him on 8/31/06 to see if he had anything yet. He said yes, but couldn't narrow it down much more. He said, he hoped I didn't feel I was bothering him. I thought that was a weird question, as I had hired him to perform a service, why would I think I was bothering him? He said he had spent extra time, but he wouldn't charge me for it, which was fair, as I had only paid him a set amount to do the search. I hadn't asked for nor paid for add'l work. On 9/3/06, after returning from out of town, I told him to just send me what he had & I would take it from there. He said ok. On 9/6/06, I emailed him again asking for the results. He replied that he'd been away & send it right away. On 9/8/06 I asked again for the results. He responded with the report and said he doesn't know why I expect so much. He essentially accused me and my mother of lying about things I never said and said he 'questions me' and 'finds it odd' that I didn't have more info.
