I am using XP professional svc pk 3 and i noticed in my device manager that the SCSI/RAID controller has an exclamation mark next to it. It states Windows cannot load the device driver. New installed Lubuntu 18.04.1 on ASUS Eee PC 1000HE. Sorry, the bluetooth. How do I setup software RAID 0 or JBOD with BTRFS? I've a 4GB SSD drive. If you look at the Device Manager entry and sub-entry, they appear like this: Entry: SCSI and RAID controllers Sub-entry: SCSI/RAID host controller Now, I am pretty sure that if this OS had an installed SCSI/RAID driver, the sub-entry would not read 'SCSI/RAID host controller'. Instead it would read something like 'Intel ICH5R Raid controller'.

Pros: Great price, solid build, great programs preloaded, untouchable operating system, small size (given), amazing speakers, one step factory restore!

Overall Review: this is the best computer I have ever owned, I am a young man going into the computer technician field of work and this is the only machine I have ever seen that has never given me any trouble, simply take out of the box, turn on, and go, that's it, no stupid programs trying to sell you junk, just a good computer, I love it move every time I use it, sadly I love it more every time I use any other computer too, I have suggested this computer to everyone I know that is look for a new computer, it is just that good, thank you for reading.
Pros: Great little machine. Replaced my aging Dell C600 with this. Combined with a 2 GB stick of memory, a 16 GB SDHC card, and WinXP it works great for on the go. I use Eeectl to control the fan/clock speeds and mine has no trouble playing Warcraft 3 when running at the full 900 MHz spec. Great for carrying to/from class since it's so small and light. Battery lasts 3+ hours when the CPU is throttled down.
Cons: The keyboard is somewhat tiny and takes some getting used to. The display drivers from ASUS really do suck, do yourself a favor and get the drivers straight from Intel.
Cons: If you have large hands the keyboard is hard to type on and takes a bit of getting used to. Also, the eepc is finicky about connecting to closed wireless networks at times. Overall, however, an excellent machine.

Overall Review: The linux thing isn't really a big deal. but someone who doesn't know how to install windows with out a cd drive. The 4 gb isnt an issue either, even if you decied to use xp you can reduce the xp install to under 600 mb (instructions on eeeuser.com via the forums). The only real con is the short battery life.. but you can usually be plugged in anyways. There are also after market batteries you can buy on online if you look around. This also a great little comp if you like to mod. I'm thinking about adding a touch screen. But for anyone considering whether or not to buy, or which model to buy, I would really suggest checking out the forums at eeeuser.com.. they really help me.
Pros: This device has amazing portability! It can connect to the Internet with a connection wizard that allows for various wire connections (DSL, cable, LAN, or VPN). I like that it uses Linux, which gives me experience and uses much less system memory than Windows XP. The updated BIOS allows one to boot from internal solid state harddrive or the USB MMC Card Reader (which turns an ordinary flash card into a harddrive with a format under settings).
Cons: The ability to add additional software with Linux. However, if you plan on installing Win XP, then you are not at a loss. There might be a way with the Linux Console under the File Manager, but I am not that familar with Linux or its commands yet. The external video port forces an expansion to the output monitor that causes the internal screen on the ASUS PC to be constricted in view.
Overall Review: A great buy!! This device is great for surfing the Internet, downloading files from the Internet or another PC. I wouldn't reccomend using it as a gaming PC with Win XP. However, it plays video (avi, mp4, SVCD..) with the memory upgrade. I reccomend getting a cooling pad for this device, if you plan on watching streaming video from the Internet with it, especially at full screeen.
The operating system is somewhat restrictive for power users. If all you need is the internet, office software, and a few other things, it's fine. Install Windows XP or another Linux distribution if you want to use it beyond that.
Overall Review: I gave it a five because it is very good for the price.
I installed Arch Linux on it and it does things like play zsnes flawlessly. There are guides on intalling XP or other Linux distributions on EEEPC scattered around the internet.
I thought 800x480 resolution would be more of an issue. For me, it's not that annoying. I use 1440x900 and 1280x1024 on my other computers. Most websites render fine on the EEEPC and most applications work.
But I think you should wait as competitors like MSI, Dell, etc. are coming out with similar competitive products. If you give subnotebooks a year to mature up you will likely get a much better product for the same price. I got the EEEPC now because Summer classes are starting up soon and I wanted something to do notes on, etc.
But if you are considering purchase, I highly recommend this product.

Overall Review: I upgraded the RAM to 2GB before turning it on, and installed Windows XP before booting to Linux, so I have no comments on the default OS. This thing is being used as my main computer right now, perfect for surfing the web, use in school, and light gaming. (I've got Frets on Fire, Audiosurf, Counterstrike and Zelda Classic running with no lag whatsoever. The resolution could be better, but I can live with it. Hard drive performance is great, but size could use a boost. The 8G isn't worth the price difference, in my opinion. The SDHC slot is a godsend. :) An external CD/DVD drive is a must, if you don't have one already, as is an external hard drive. I know that for the total price that I've spent on this laptop, I bigger, more powerful one could have been bought, but I think that it being so incredibly tiny is the most important thing. I don't know how people have trouble typing on this laptop, I have rather large hands, and became used to it after about five minutes. Buy it NOW!
Pros: I'm writing this review from my eee. It is an awesome little machine. I had starcraft running under wine within 24 hours of receiving it. Right now I am streaming videos from launch.yahoo.com in a hotel on a wireless connection while writing this. I love the functionality. I have installed vpnc and gnome-terminal after adding a debian repository to apt. I have everything I need to do work, it plays music and all my videos with no problem, and it runs games.
