I have removed & reinstalled at least 6 times w/ the same issue. I thought it was my CD causing the problem so I bought a new copy of the game.
The game works on my 32bit XP machine, but not on my 64bit Windows7 machine (which is my primary gaming computer)
I start the game, (tried different compat. modes) it black screens like its about to start, then i hear a faint error sound, so I hit the keyboard and i get back to the desktop. Second time it happened, I alt-tabbed and found this error on my desktop:
Link Removed due to 404 Error
Anybody??

Ode to my father 1080p download. Open the file in a text editor. It should contain a line under the autorun heading that looks like open=setup.exe (where setup.exe may be some other executable, probably a launcher executable in Diablo 2's case). This is the executable that Windows would normally launch for you.
- Diablo 2 review After a long war, a demon named Diablo was defeated. He was overthrownin the Church of Tristamum by a fearless hero. Diablo 2 Free Download. And although the victory was greeted with glee, the transformation happened with the hero. He sided with the Darkness, and brings only death and destruction.
- I have downloaded Diablo 2 and LoD from Blizzard and installed them both. I need the link for download diablo II for windows 7 32 bit without install running.
do I need to download something?
Did you install it? If so you can download the patch here, https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/classic-game-patches
After that run D2 as administrator and you are good.

I have not installed yet, but I thought I needed something, thanks for the quick reply and link
Get a glidewrapper.
nGlide works well with D2 and needs no config. After you install nGlide run Diablo 2 video test and select glide. It will look and run much better than the DirectX or Directdraw APi avaliable in D2.

open the shortcut go to properties make it look like this 'C:Diablo IIDiablo II.exe' -w
so at the end you well need to put a space -w

Yup..I've been having weird graphical and color issues with D2 as well, on Win7-64.

That fixed it.
The Diablo 2 Video Test is located in your Diablo II LOD installation folder, It is named: D2VidTst.exe
It should auto-select 3DFX Glice as the video mode.
You do not have to restart your computer after the test is complete.
Select the Properties of your D2 Shortcut. Select Compatibility Mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2. Put a checkmark in the 'Disable visual themes' checkbox and the other two below it.
Enjoy.
PS: Evil, if you use the GlideWrapper, you don't have to run the game in Windowed mode, but if you have 2 monitors, Windowed mode will preserve the video resolution of your other monitor.

So, Evil, I have 3 accounts at P400, and I added up the points. That's only enough to get me to P586 on a single account. And to take any one of them to P500, I will have to earn the equivalent XP of taking a brand new account to P368..That's BS man!
LOL

Right click D2 executable/shortcut, select properties, select Compability tab. Check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:', select Windows XP. Check 'Run this program as administrator', Check the '256 colors stuff' and/or check everything.
or you can do the C:Diablo IIDiablo II.exe' -w to run it in window mode

Really? Thanks! I have spent hundreds of hours just leveling up and deleting lowbie DH and Wiz, for the fun of it.
I have probably spent more time leveling and deleting characters than you have spent playing the entire game on all characters. And I have 4 accounts. And 3 of them are at P400, and one of them is at P168.
So I even though I am a little miffed about the point/level disparity, I can say that I have enjoyed the event of leveling a character 1368 times, while another player on one account only got to enjoy that even 600 times for the same number of points earned..
So how about

Yeah, that may work on your particular hardware setup, but it did not work for me, and nothing of the sort did.
Folks with hardware setups like me need that nGlide wrapper. Then it works like a charm. no video anomalies, and all the colors are vibrantly displayed..
